This article may contain major spoilers. Wild West Bullet Simulator is a game made by RPG Maker plugin developer and programmer SRDude ("SRD," SumRndmDde on YouTube) using the RPG Maker MZ game engine. You can find the download link to his game ("WildWest.zip") in the description of this YouTube video called "The 2 HOUR Game Dev CHALLENGE! w/SRDude," made by ToastyTime (Toasty RPG Time).

Video games have their history across the decades from games created by companies to ones created by smaller studios. These days, however, individual "indie" developers are common with the tools and engines of the current era, along with the various Web sites helping individual game developers share their work on the Internet. What makes a game appeal to the player regardless of the market and the audience? Here I explore an indie game developed by the talented RPG Maker plugin developer and programmer, SRDude, in about 2 hours. This game is titled Wild West Bullet Simulator.

In Wild West Bullet Simulator, the player starts as a bullet, which is one of the most creative and well-thought characters for a game setting I have ever seen in the whole of video games history, perhaps. (Maybe SRDude can set out to become a professional character designer one day? He surely has the talent for it!) The bullet needs to hit the guy in a cowboy duel.

The player controls the bullet with the goal of hitting the rival in the duel. A simple concept at first sight but there is a bit of puzzle solving. In order to hit the guy, players must first solve the puzzle of disarming his weapons. The developer SRDude managed to turn a simple, straightforward concept into something creative and engaging.

While there may not be much story to this game, it has a high replay value with multiple endings. As a game made in about two hours and completely using improvised custom sound, graphics, ideas, and more made all by the developer himself, SRDude created a masterpiece of an RPG Maker game to be remembered in the legacy of all indie games.

My favorite part about this game is its simplicity and how quickly a player can beat this game, but also how quickly a player can die. Another charm of this game is its music, which is improvised work. SRDude composed the starting music of the game within that two-hours-worth of time, and wonderfully set the atmosphere of the game from music alone. (It is no wonder that Toasty would, like, fall in love with SRD or something? SRD is a talented musician and composer! In addition to that, he is also talented in drawing the characters of this game, making such great graphics in such a short amount of time!)

Wild West Bullet Simulator serves as a timeless reminder that a good game doesn't have to have a "proper" story and doesn't have to be sophisticated in mechanics to achieve success. The game kept its simple charm, while being a sophisticated game at the same time. It serves as a lovely reminder that a good game doesn't have to be one that takes the player hours to complete, and doesn't need to have "good graphics."

Game Rating: 9/10

In our busy world today, a short masterpiece like Wild West Bullet Simulator that lets the player feel things can serve as an inspiration for developers and players from all walks of life. I am grateful to be introduced to this simple, lovely game.

P.S. My only "issue" with this game is that I am not really sure what that thing in the title screen exactly is and how it relates to this game? It looks like some table or something...?
